1,500 F o o t D r o p
Just to the right of this tree is a 1,500+ foot, straight drop to the Colorado River.
As I was walking along this ledge, I happened upon a carabiner lying under another tree. This tree it was under could have been used to tie off a climbing rope so one could rappel over the edge, but how did the carabiner end up there?
The tree was growing out of the top of a rock, with the biner right at its base; this lone carabiner made me feel a bit uneasy. I hope that whomever it belonged to, did not tie off the rope, go over the edge, and then have the knot let loose, leaving just this carabiner as the last sign of the climber; ouch.
