Natural light, or alien bees?

And then how much did you play with it in photoshop?

So painterly, your left eye (YOUR left, our right) Glint. Tiny bit of white paint on the end of a very small pointed brush.

Bees, one large softbox camera left, on the right a small white card to soften the shadows on my dark side; yes, I have a dark side. I screwed up the bounce and just my eye was lit.

In PS I convert to B&W using a gradient map layer, then added a curves layer, creating a slight S curve to punch the contrast.

I did the PS work on my laptop, so I can't really see how much light is on the eye; will probably burn ii if it pops too much

I'm no expert, but I don't think it pops too much. Vermeer like. One little dot of titanium white

Nope. I think it pops just fine. It...er...frankly it scares me. I like the movement in it.

Which is contrarywise of a comment, I have to admit. Ok, so I think the gleam on the eyes is fine - it doens't look unnatural to me. The movement in the picture added to the darkness I think is really effective. And the whole overview is definitely creepy. Was that the goal?

Dantares,

Do you mean creepy as in I would scare a school bus full of nuns, or just enough to frighten small children? Creepy was not my intent, I’m just an accidental creep, I guess.

Really, I was bored and playing with painting by light and trying out a few new grids I had purchased, the gleam just happened.

I appreciate your insight on this shot and welcome any future critiques as well.

Cheers!
